Beds were made to give us comfort when we sleep. We spend at least eight hours on it so it is important that we choose one that best fits our lifestyle. A bed is a one of the things that deserve your investment. After all, it will last for years and serves a basic human need.
What is Regular Bed
Over the years, research and technology paved the way for the development of modern beds. A regular bed is one that is a straightforward mattress on top of a platform. It is made of cushion without the other elements that provide extra comfort.
Non-regular beds are those that you can recline, those that have springs inside, or those that use memory foam. Although science can prove that high-tech beds can provide that extra comfort, a regular bed serves the most basic purpose of giving your body a good rest nonetheless.
Styles of a Regular Bed
Regular beds come in different styles. Since it is the kind of bed that has been around for centuries, it has also evolved into different designs. Here are the two major classifications.
Modern — this kind of bed may come in the form of a sofa bed. It is still a regular bed but you can fold it and convert it into a seat. These beds are just rectangular cushions that may or may not sit on top of a wooden or metal platform.
Traditional—this kind of bed is also called a classic. A traditional bed has a headboard or a footer. All beds of this classification are sitting on top of a platform. The mattress is placed on top of this elevated platform. One can hide underneath it or use the underside as a storage.
Advantages of a Regular Bed
Regular beds are affordable. Since they do not have the components of technology, they are easy to manufacture. They are also easy to maintain, especially if your mattress is made of foam and wrapped with a fabric or faux leather casing.
Another advantage is that it comes in different sizes. You can buy single, double, king-size or queen-size. The sizes of these beds have an international standard so if you already have a platform, you need not worry that it will not fit. Buying sheets is also easy since the sizes are standardized.
Disadvantages of a Regular Bed
A regular bed does not provide therapeutic remedy. This is not recommended for people who have medical conditions on their spine.
A regular bed also does not provide the same level of comfort as the high-tech beds. An example of this is the memory foam. This kind of bed will take the contour of your body and works in conjunction with your weight. A regular bed is known to sag after a long period of time, especially if you bought beds with low quality upholstery. And of course, a regular bed will not give you that feeling of luxury like a waterbed does.
Why Buying a Regular Bed
The regular bed is the choice of a pragmatic person. Here are a few reasons why you should buy this.
Less maintenance — imagine the hassle you have to go through if you have a water bed or a reclining bed. One day, a bed like that is bound to need some sort maintenance. And once it is under maintenance, you have nowhere to sleep.
Less cost — regular beds are significantly affordable. It does not really matter that you will need to replace this every five years or so. In fact, changing beds every five years is actually a great idea since by that time, the bed has already accumulated too much dust, bacteria, and dead skin cells.
Summary
Invest in a regular bed but not on cheap foams. Your body is awake more than 12 hours a day and it is just right that you pamper it a little by resting on a regular bed that is durable and appropriately sized for you
